According to NBC News, Card’s violent spree did not end at the bowling alley. He proceeded to a nearby bar, Schemengees Bar and Grille, where he claimed the lives of eight more innocent people. Three additional victims succumbed to their injuries in area hospitals.
As of now, the death toll stands at 18, and law enforcement agencies across Maine are tirelessly searching for Card. It is worth noting that Card has a background as a firearms instructor and had recently been hospitalized for allegedly making threats of violence towards his own Army Reserve unit.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have joined the manhunt, and even the U.S. Coast Guard is involved in searching the Kennebec River for any signs of the suspect.
