Most New Yorkers Fear Migrant Crisis Will Ruin City: Survey
New Yorkers Concerned that Migrant Crisis Could Devastate the City
A recent poll conducted by Siena College reveals that the ongoing migrant crisis is causing major apprehension among New Yorkers, with many fearing that it could spell disaster for the city.
The survey, which interviewed voters in the state, found that a staggering 80% view the influx of migrants from the border as a grave issue.
Furthermore, nearly 60% of respondents agreed with Mayor Eric Adams’s assertion that the situation has the potential to “destroy” New York City, as reported by Siena College here:
Over 80% of voters continue to express serious concern about the recent surge of migrants in New York, with 57% considering it a very serious problem, a slight increase from 54% in August.
Approximately 64% believe that New Yorkers have already done enough for new migrants and should now focus on slowing down the influx, while only 29% advocate for accepting and integrating them into the state. This marks a shift from the 58-36% ratio observed in August. Additionally, 58% agree with Mayor Eric Adams’s prediction that the migrant issue ’will destroy New York City’.
This poll follows a recent House report, which concluded that there has been a severe lack of enforcement of immigration laws under the Biden administration.
