Most voters doubt Biden impeachment inquiry: Poll.

Majority of Voters See ⁤Impeachment Inquiry as Partisan Political Stunt

A recent poll conducted by the⁢ left-leaning Congressional Integrity Project and Public Policy ‍Polling reveals that a majority of voters believe an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden would ⁢be more⁤ of a partisan exercise rather than a serious criminal investigation. This sentiment is shared by independent voters as well, who view it ⁢as an ⁤attempt to⁣ undermine the president’s chances in the 2024 election.

According to the ‌poll, 56% of voters consider an impeachment inquiry to be politically motivated, while‌ only 38% believe it would be a⁢ genuine‍ effort to investigate important issues. Among independent voters, 53% see it as a partisan stunt that⁣ could ‍potentially⁣ harm ‍Republicans with a crucial voter bloc.

Impeachment Inquiry Seen as ⁤Effort to Damage Biden’s Reelection Campaign

The survey also reveals that 51% of voters, including 51% of independents, believe that an ⁢impeachment inquiry would be intended to damage President Biden’s chances in his reelection campaign.

These⁢ findings come at a time when House Republican ⁤leaders are considering moving forward with an ⁢impeachment inquiry next ‌month. Speaker Kevin McCarthy has ‌described it as the “natural step forward” in ⁤light of ongoing investigations into allegations of‍ financial misconduct involving⁣ Joe Biden and his‍ son Hunter Biden.

However, House Minority⁣ Leader Hakeem Jeffries has‌ denounced the idea, calling it “illegitimate” and accusing‍ Republicans of taking orders from former ⁣President Donald Trump. Jeffries argues that the proposal is merely a continuation of⁣ their efforts to persecute‌ Joe⁤ Biden.

Uncertainty remains regarding whether McCarthy will hold a vote ‌on ⁣the impeachment ‍inquiry, as some vulnerable Republicans have expressed⁢ reservations. ⁤There⁣ is speculation that McCarthy may proceed with the inquiry without a vote, a move that has drawn‍ criticism from House ⁣Democrats.

Majority⁣ of Voters‍ Support House Vote on Impeachment Inquiry

The ⁣poll‌ also indicates that 59% ⁣of ⁢voters believe⁣ the⁢ House⁢ should hold a vote to authorize an inquiry, while 30% ⁤consider a vote unnecessary.‌ Additionally, 61% of respondents believe that Biden‌ should not be impeached unless evidence is found of bribery or ‌acting on‌ behalf⁢ of his son.

The Congressional Integrity Project poll surveyed 606 voters ⁣from August 23-24 and‍ has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 ‌percentage points.
