Man arrested for attempting to assassinate Rep. Moskowitz had ‘antisemitic’ manifesto – Washington Examiner
A man was arrested in Florida for allegedly attempting to assassinate Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL). The suspect, a former felon, was found nearby with a rifle, a suppressor, body armor, and a manifesto containing antisemitic sentiments, which specifically listed Moskowitz as a target. The police discovered multiple firearms and evidence indicating a planned criminal act. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is now leading the investigation. Moskowitz, elected to Congress in 2022, expressed concern over the incident but noted he would not disclose further details to avoid hindering the investigation.

VOTERS SEND HISTORY-MAKING CANDIDATES TO CONGRESS
“The individual in question was arrested not far from my home; he is a former felon who was in possession of a rifle, a suppressor, and body armor,” Moskowitz said in a statement. “Found with him was a manifesto that, among other things, included antisemitic rhetoric and only my name on the ‘target’ list. There are many other details that I will not disclose as I do not want to interfere with an ongoing investigation.” Detectives had “located several firearms and evidence that he may have been planning some type of criminal act.”
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has since taken over the investigation.
Elected to Congress in 2022, Moskowitz is one of 13 congressional members tasked with investigating the July 13 assassination attempt on President-elect Donald Trump’s life.
In a statement, the Margate Police Department confirmed that John Lapinski, 41, was arrested last Saturday “for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and other firearms related charges.”
With 8,008 “concerning statements” and “direct threats” made to members last year, according to the U.S. Capitol Police, Lapinski has expressed great concern over the security strength around members.
“At the same time, I am deeply worried about Congressional member security and the significant lack thereof when we are in the district,” he said in his statement. “Regardless of our political affiliations or differences, we all have families we want to keep safe.”
The spoiled assassination plot on Moskowitz’s life comes just weeks after California sentenced the man responsible for attacking Paul Pelosi, the husband of then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to life in prison without parole.
