Man faces charges for threatening Vivek Ramaswamy’s life

A man from New Hampshire is now facing charges after threatening to kill GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and attendees at his political event.
On Monday, Tyler Anderson, 30, was charged with making an interstate threat to Ramaswamy, 38, via text messages in an exchange that was sent to the GOP presidential hopeful’s campaign team.
The accused man appeared in federal court.
Federal prosecutors say that if found guilty, Anderson could be sentenced to up to five years in prison, serve three years of supervised release, and have to pay fine of up to $250,000.
According to charging documents, Ramaswamy’s campaign team had texted Anderson to inform him of an event that was happening in Portsmouth on Monday morning, and in response, Anderson threatened to “blow” Ramaswamy’s “brains out.”
He also allegedly wrote that he was “going to kill everyone who attends and then [expletive] their corpses.”
A spokesperson from Ramaswamy’s campaign stated that their security team “worked closely” with law enforcement on Anderson’s arrest.
“We’re going to let the investigators do their work and figure out who this person is and what their motives might be,” the spokesperson said. “We will, however, say this: we constantly hear about January 6 and ‘violence’ and ‘extremism on the right’ from the media, but the same media goes silent when the target is a Republican.”
The 30-year-old also allegedly admitted to sending “similar threatening text messages to multiple other campaigns.”
Anderson is now being detained, pending a detention hearing set for Thursday.
