Azusa Man Dies After Driving Vehicle Over Cliff in Angeles National Forest
A tragic incident unfolded in Azusa, Calif., as a man who had eluded the local police met a fatal end after driving his vehicle over a cliff in the picturesque Angeles National Forest.
The Azusa Police Department received a distress call regarding a person exhibiting signs of mental health concerns. Promptly, officers located the individual behind the wheel of a vehicle on Azusa Avenue in the downtown area. They attempted to pull him over, but instead, a slow-speed pursuit ensued, leading them into Azusa Canyon.

Tragically, the motorist drove approximately a mile from the entrance of the canyon before intentionally veering off the road and plunging down a daunting 350-foot embankment.
Emergency responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department swiftly arrived at the scene. Regrettably, they pronounced the man dead. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.

The Azusa Police Department informed the public through a social media post that Highway 39 would remain closed during the rescue operation, while Glendora Mountain Road would remain open.
