Man drowns in California lake near SoFi Stadium

A tragic incident occurred near Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, where a young man in his early 20s lost his life due to drowning in the lake.
On Friday night, tragedy struck as an unidentified young man, believed to be in his early 20s, drowned in the lake outside of Sofi Stadium in Inglewood.
According to Inglewood Police Lt. Cilia Islas, the man entered the lake around 9:30 p.m. and did not resurface.
Immediately, a dive team was dispatched to search for the missing man in the 15-foot-deep lake.
Unfortunately, the man’s lifeless body was discovered before 11 p.m. Despite efforts to revive him through CPR, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is being treated as an accidental drowning, but an investigation into the man’s death has been initiated by the police.
The victim’s identity is currently being withheld by authorities.
“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of an individual last evening,” SoFi Stadium authorities said in a statement. “Our deepest condolences go out to the individual’s family and friends for their loss. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
Notably, the stadium had hosted a concert by electronic musician Illenium on the same night, which concluded around 11 p.m. However, it is unclear if the deceased man was in attendance at the event.
This tragic incident marks the second drowning in the lake outside of SoFi Stadium. In July 2022, a 45-year-old man was found dead after trespassing onto the stadium grounds.
The lakes surrounding the stadium have a depth of 15 feet.
