Man Sentenced to 110 Years in Prison ‌for Brutal and Heinous Killings

FRANKFORT, Ind.—In a‍ shocking turn of events, a ⁣man who fatally shot his former girlfriend and her grandmother ⁣outside ‍an Indiana automotive seating plant has been sentenced to 110⁣ years in prison. The judge presiding over the case described the killings as “brutal‍ and‌ heinous.”

Gary Ferrell II, 28, had initially faced the possibility of a death sentence. However, he pleaded guilty to ⁢two⁢ counts of murder in April, resulting in a lengthy prison term. The ‍victims, ‍Promise Mays, 21,‍ and⁤ Pamela⁤ Sledd, 62, tragically lost their lives in 2021.

The incident occurred when Ferrell, who worked alongside the victims at NHK Seating of America in Frankfort, opened fire on⁣ them outside the ‌business. The women, who had driven to work together, were about ‌to start their shift when the ‌horrifying attack took ⁢place. Ferrell was⁤ apprehended after crashing his car in a construction zone shortly after the‌ killings.

Clinton Superior Court Judge Justin H. ⁣Hunter, in ‌his sentencing order, ‍emphasized the ⁣premeditated nature of the murders. He stated that ‍the victims had to witness each other being shot, making the crimes even more horrifying. Judge Hunter further noted that Ferrell⁢ displayed a⁤ sense of entitlement over Promise Mays, even in death, despite her kind-hearted nature.

The automotive ⁤seating plant in Frankfort, located 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Indianapolis, is responsible for designing and manufacturing vehicle seats.
