Man sues restaurant chain over shocking protein discovery in minestrone.
A Shocking Discovery: Man Sues Olive Garden Over Rat’s Foot in Soup
In a bizarre incident that has left diners horrified, a man from Michigan is taking legal action against Olive Garden after allegedly finding a rat’s foot in his bowl of minestrone soup. Thomas Howie, a resident of Oakland County, has filed a lawsuit against the popular food chain, seeking $25,000 in damages.
The incident occurred earlier this year when Howie visited one of Olive Garden’s locations in the Detroit suburb of Warren. Little did he know that his seemingly harmless order of vegetarian soup would turn into a stomach-churning experience.
According to Howie’s legal filing, he took a bite of the soup and immediately felt something off. A sharp pain in his mouth prompted him to spit out the bite, only to discover a rodent foot in his napkin. Shocked and disgusted, he realized he had been chewing on a rat’s foot.
“I felt something stab me in the mouth, and I wasn’t sure. The first thought was a needle,” Howie explained in the lawsuit.

The sight of the hairy leg made Howie vomit right there in the restaurant. Overwhelmed by the gross and disgusting experience, he called the local police department, who were equally appalled by the discovery.
However, Howie claims that the restaurant’s staff did not take the incident seriously. In fact, one employee allegedly made a joke at his expense, saying, “That’s funny. We don’t even put meat in minestrone.”
Since the incident, Howie has developed an aversion to both restaurants and meat. He now suffers from anxiety and depression, seeking medical attention and a tetanus shot to ensure his safety.
Olive Garden spokesman Rich Jeffers has stated that the company will vigorously fight the lawsuit, asserting that there is no validity to the claim. He mentioned that the location in question passed a health department inspection shortly after the incident and has never had any reported issues with rats.
This shocking incident serves as a reminder that even in the most unexpected places, one must remain vigilant. As the legal battle unfolds, Olive Garden will undoubtedly face scrutiny over its food safety practices, leaving customers questioning the integrity of their dining experience.
