BOSTON Man Rescued by Fishing Boat Dies After Falling Overboard from Tanker
A tragic incident unfolded in Boston as a man who fell overboard from a tanker has sadly passed away, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
The crew of the commercial fishing boat, America, heroically rescued the man from the treacherous waters on Tuesday morning. With the assistance of the Boston Fire Department and Coast Guard personnel, the boat swiftly made its way to shore, where an ambulance was waiting to provide urgent medical attention.
While the District Attorney’s office refrained from providing further details about the case, the heart-wrenching incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by those working at sea.
The Coast Guard received a distress call from the tanker MTM Dublin at around 4:30 a.m., reporting that a crew member had fallen overboard. The incident occurred while a ladder was being lowered in preparation for a Boston Harbor pilot to come aboard.
In the midst of pitch-dark conditions and rough seas near Boston Harbor, the America, being the first vessel on the scene, managed to locate and rescue the crew member, as confirmed by Petty Officer Lyric Jackson, a Coast Guard spokesperson.
