Manhattan DA Responds To Demands From House Republicans Investigating Trump Case
House Republicans launched an investigation this week into the possible indictment of former President Donald Trump, and on Thursday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office retaliated by claiming they lack a” fair basis” for their inquiry.
The lawmakers’ requests for connections, information, and evidence were referred to as” an unprecedent investigation into a pending national prosecution” by Leslie Dubeck, the in-house general counsel for the prosecutor who is looking into Trump over alleged hush money obligations to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election cycle.
Their demands, according to Dubeck,” are an illegal intrusion into New York’s independence.” The ability of Congress to pass laws pertaining to governmental matters gives Congress analytical jurisdiction and places restrictions on it.
In response to reports indicating that an indictment against Trump was imminent, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan ( R-OH ), House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, and House Administration Committee Chair Bryan Steil sent the letter to Bragg on Monday. The prosecution of a former president of the United States who is currently running for that work was described in their email as” an extraordinary misuse of legal expert.”
Trump called on his followers to outcry over the weekend, saying he anticipated being arrested on Tuesday. Trump did not receive any” notification ,” according to a former president’s spokesperson, other than” illegal leaks” to the media, most likely in reference to reports about law enforcement getting ready for an indictment.
The investigation” only came after Donald Trump created a misleading expectation that he would be arrested the following weekend and his attorneys apparently urged you to act ,” Bragg said in response to GOP congressional officials.
In the letter, which Punchbowl News posted online, Dubeck added,” Neither fact is a reasonable basis for legislative investigation.”
Dubeck cited a New York Times article that claimed Trump attorney Joseph Tacopina wrote to Jordan last month urging Congress to look into the” egregious abuse of power” by what he referred to as” a” rogue local district attorney.”

Dubeck concluded by stating that Bragg’s team” will never permit a Parliamentary investigation to impede the exercise of New York” s royal police power, but also noted that his office would” always treat another government entity with scheduled respect.” In order to achieve this, Dubeck continued, Bragg’s company has asked for a” complete and confer to determine whether the Committee has any fair parliamentary function in the requested items that could be accommodated without impeding those royal interest.”
Trump asserts that Bragg’s investigation is politically inspired and denies any wrongdoing in his November announcement of a second presidential campaign. According to ABC News, the royal judge is not anticipated to return to the Trump situation until at least Monday, so an indictment could happen as early as next year.
Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz, the prosecutors in charge of the Trump evaluation who resigned last year out of frustration that Bragg was quite anxious to file an indictment at the time, were the targets of Jordan’s inquiries, which he made public on Wednesday night.
The House Judiciary Committee, which is led by Jordan, tweeted after learning of Alvin Bragg’s effect he that he should concentrate on prosecuting real perpetrators in New York City more than harassing a political opponent in another state. ” Get Manhattan Safe Once More!”
