Manhattan Prosecutors Investigating Second Alleged Trump Hush Money Payment To Adult Star
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is investigating another alleged hush money payment made by former President Donald Trump to a woman in the adult entertainment industry. The payment to former Playboy model Karen McDougal is said to be around $150,000. While prosecutors have been presenting evidence about the alleged $130,000 hush payment made to porn actress Stormy Daniels, the investigation into the payment made to McDougal could lead to additional charges against Trump. No charges have been made against him yet, despite his previous claims that he would be arrested. The grand jury in the case is taking a one-month break, so charges are unlikely to be filed until at least the end of April.
The prosecution could use the alleged payment to McDougal as evidence to establish a pattern of conduct by the former president since alleged participants have claimed that Trump played a key role in the payment deals. David Pecker, the former CEO of American Media and publisher of the National Enquirer, has testified and tied Trump directly to the payment made to McDougal. Lawyers for the former president claim that he was not aware of the payment, and Trump has denied having an affair with McDougal.
McDougal claimed that she had a 10-month affair with Trump that ended in 2007. The timeline of the alleged affair would indicate that it started a few months after the birth of Barron Trump, Trump’s youngest son with his current wife, Melania.
