Manhunt For Larry Hogan’s Ex-Aide Ends, Suspect Dead
Roy McGrath, the former aide of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, has died following an agent-involved shooting after being apprehended by law enforcement in Knoxville, Tennessee. McGrath had been on the run for three weeks after skipping court and welfare check in Florida. The FBI launched a manhunt, believing that McGrath had committed suicide. However, McGrath’s lawyer confirmed that he never wavered about his innocence.
McGrath resigned as Hogan’s chief of staff in 2020 after being accused of securing a fraudulant severance package of $233,648 from his previous job at Maryland Environmental Service. He pleaded not guilty to federal wire fraud and theft charges, with state charges for illegally recording private conversations with senior officials. Hogan denies approving McGrath’s severance, stating that “turned his back on Mr. McGrath to avoid the political fallout of his decision”.
The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service offered $10,000 each a piece for information leading to McGrath’s capture
