Manhunt underway after Denver high school student shoots two staff members
A manhunt is underway in Denver after a 17-year-old high school student shot two staff members. The victims were immediately transported to the hospital, and the shooter fled. The suspect, identified as Austin Lyle, is now wanted on charges of attempted homicide and was last seen driving a red Volvo.
Mayor Michael Hancock stated that authorities will hold the suspect accountable for his dangerous actions.
The shooter is considered to be armed and dangerous, alarming authorities. The public is urged to provide any information that can help the investigation.
According to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas, the shooting occurred in the front office area, away from other students and teachers. One of the victims is in critical condition, while the other is stable.
Lyle was already known to the authorities, and was subject to a school safety plan which required him to undergo a daily pat down before being allowed to enter the school.
