Williamson: DNC Helped Biden Win Nomination.
Marianne Williamson Accuses DNC of Making It Easier for Biden to Win Nomination
Bestselling self-help book author and 2020 presidential candidate Marianne Williamson has accused the Democratic National Committee (DNC) of rigging the nomination process in favor of President Joe Biden. Williamson, who announced her candidacy for the 2024 primary in March, recently appeared on Fox News’ “The Next Revolution” to criticize the DNC’s decision to forgo primary debates altogether.
“The American people are waking up. The only way to protect our democracy is through the practice of more democracy,” she said. “So, the American people at a time like this—for the sake of our democracy—should have options, should have as much array in front of them of ideas, whether they’re on the left or on the right, whether they’re on the Republican Party of Democratic Party. That’s democracy.”
Williamson believes that voters should have the opportunity to hear from all candidates and decide for themselves who deserves the nomination. She is not alone in her criticism of the DNC’s reported plans to skip primary debates. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., another Democratic presidential candidate, recently spoke out against the decision.
“Debates and town halls are part of the democratic process,” Kennedy told The Epoch Times in April. “We’re living in a time when there’s a lot of Americans who believe our democracy is broken. And I think both political parties have to bend.”
The move has also prompted responses from prominent figures like Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who tweeted that all candidates deserve the opportunity to debate.
Protecting Democracy
Williamson believes that protecting democracy requires more democracy, and that means giving voters the chance to hear from all candidates. She has accused the DNC of making it easier for Biden to win the nomination and has called for more transparency in the nomination process.
“It’s not just that I deserve to have a chance to get my message out there. I think the American people deserve to hear whoever is running and what they have to say,” she concluded.
As the 2024 primary approaches, it remains to be seen whether the DNC will reconsider its decision to skip primary debates. But for Williamson and other candidates, the fight for more democracy and transparency in the nomination process continues.
