Marianne Williamson knocks DNC over lack of debates as Biden campaign launch nears
Buckle up, folks! Bestselling author and 2024 Democratic candidate Marianne Williamson is not holding back. She’s calling out the Democratic National Committee for their lack of primary debates.
“The DNC ‘plans no primary debates.’ Are they kidding? There are other candidates out there with fresh ideas that we should be discussing. We need to talk about ways to win in 2024 and ways to repair our country. It’s time for the DNC to step up and give us a platform,” Williamson tweeted.
Williamson’s criticism of the DNC comes as rumors swirl about President Joe Biden announcing his reelection campaign this week. Williamson has previously accused the DNC of rigging the primary process.
It’s not uncommon for a sitting president to avoid debates with primary challengers. Former President Donald Trump did the same in 2020, as he was polling far ahead of his GOP challengers. Similarly, Biden’s current polling suggests he’s in a strong position.
Williamson and environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are the only progressive challengers in the race. The possibility of a more prominent primary rival for Biden has largely subsided after his party’s strong performance in the 2022 midterm elections.
Biden’s team has dismissed Williamson and Kennedy Jr., with White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre even mocking Williamson’s spiritual endeavors after she announced her campaign last month. But Williamson’s team has released a poll showing double-digit support among Democrats, proving she’s a force to be reckoned with.
Don’t miss out on more juicy details from the Washington Examiner!
Williamson is hitting the campaign trail hard, with stops in Michigan, Georgia, and South Carolina this week. She’s not just focused on Biden, though. Williamson is passionate about progressive causes and is eager to discuss them with Democratic leaders.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Williamson’s representatives for comment, but they were too busy fighting the good fight to respond.
