Marjorie Taylor Greene expelled from House Freedom Caucus, congressman confirms.

House Freedom Caucus Votes to Remove Marjorie Taylor Greene

The House Freedom Caucus (HFC) has made a significant decision. They have voted in favor of removing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from their staunchly conservative group, according to a board member of the caucus.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) revealed the news to reporters on July 6, stating, “A vote was taken to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from the House Freedom Caucus for some of the things she’s done.” The vote was first reported by Politico, which noted that it was unclear at the time whether she had already been ousted.

When asked if Greene was formally removed from the group, Harris responded, “As far as I know, that is the way it is.”

Harris also mentioned that Greene’s close affiliation with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and her support of President Joe Biden’s debt deal may have contributed to her removal. He stated, “I think all of that mattered,” when asked if her support for McCarthy played a role in the group’s decision. However, he declined to disclose how he voted.

Thursday’s vote marks the first time a member has been removed from the House Freedom Caucus.

Greene’s Response

In response to the vote, Greene released a statement to news outlets, where she did not explicitly confirm whether she was still a part of the group. She emphasized that her primary focus is serving Northwest Georgia and fighting against what she perceives as destructive actions by the Democrats.

Greene stated, “I serve no group in Washington. My America First credentials, guided by my Christian faith, are forged in steel, seared into my character, and will never change.” She expressed her commitment to working with anyone who shares her goals of securing the border, protecting children, ending foreign wars, and saving the country.

She concluded her statement by highlighting the importance of a strong, unified Republican-led Congress when former President Donald Trump wins the White House in 2024.

Heated Confrontation

The decision to remove Greene from the House Freedom Caucus comes after a heated confrontation she had with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) on the House floor. The clash was captured on video and centered around Boebert’s plan to impeach President Biden.

In the exchange, Greene accused Boebert of acting independently and introduced a privileged motion to force a vote on the impeachment resolution.
