Thunderbolts production halted by Marvel amid writers’ strike.
Marvel’s Thunderbolts Film Delayed Due to Writers Guild of America Strike
Marvel, owned by Disney, has put a pause on the production of its Thunderbolts film due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. This comes after the company also delayed its Blade film.
The WGA strike, which began on May 2, has caused the shutdown of many film and television productions, affecting over 11,500 writers who are demanding higher wages. This is the first work stoppage in 15 years.
Post-Strike Negotiations Begin
The first negotiations between the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the Directors Guild of America have begun, but until then, many shows have aired repeat episodes.
Thunderbolts, which is expected to star Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, among others, has Lee Sung Jin as one of its writers. The project will be directed by Jake Schreier and is anticipated to start at the end of the strike.
Disney has not commented on the delay.

SAG-AFTRA to Vote on Strike
The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists will vote on whether to strike in the first week of June, possibly joining the writers’ strike. Members will submit their votes by June 5 in order to be ready for negotiations with major studios on June 7.
