Maryland judge slain in driveway, police seek suspect who ‘targeted’ him over divorce ruling.

A Maryland judge was tragically shot and killed in the driveway of his home in what officials are calling a “targeted attack.”
The shooting that occurred on Thursday night took place just hours after Washington County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson granted custody of the suspect Pedro Argote’s children to his estranged wife.
Wilkinson was found outside his home in Hagerstown while his wife and son were inside, according to authorities. He was rushed to Meritus Medical Center, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
“The victim was suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was transported to Meritus Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries,” stated the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect remains at large, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public not to approach him but to provide any information regarding his whereabouts.
Judge Wilkinson presided over a hearing on Thursday in Argote’s divorce case, which Argote did not attend. During the hearing, the suspect lost custody of his children, leading authorities to believe that this was the motive behind targeting Wilkinson.
According to the Maryland government website, Wilkinson has been serving as a judge with the 4th Judicial Circuit since January 2020.
