Massachusetts Mom Accused Of Strangling Children Timed How Long Husband Would Be Away, Prosecutors Say
The Massachusetts Mother charged with Mording She raised her three young children Children According to prosecutors, she checked her cell phone to see how long it would take for her husband’s return from errands to her home so that she could strangle the children and then attempt to kill herself.
Lindsay Clancy, 32 years old, allegedly ordered her husband to go to CVS to get dinner and medication so that she could kill her children and herself, according the Daily Beast reported. While he was out of the house, she allegedly strangled her children – ages 5, 3, and 8 months – with exercise bands, killing the older children and sending the youngest to a hospital, where he died later.
“The defendant did not take advantage of the situation when her husband left the home that night,” Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague said during Clancy’s arraignment on Tuesday. “She created the situation. And she used Apple Maps to make sure she had enough time to strangle each child before her husband returned from where she sent him.”
Sprague said that each child had to be killed within four minutes and that Clancy informed a psychiatrist that Clancy did not believe her. “killed the kids because she heard a voice” “had ‘a moment of psychosis.’”
Clancy’s husband, Patrick, said during the hearing that his wife only used the word “psychosis” After speaking with a doctor that was hired by her defense lawyer, the Beast reported.
Clancy was not guilty of any criminal offense, the defense claims. She pleaded not guilty in two counts of murder, three of strangulation and three of assault and battery using a dangerous weapon. People Magazine reported.
Clancy arrived at her arraignment on her hospital bed. After she attempted suicide, she was left paralyzed below the waist. Before jumping, she also cut her wrists.
Patrick reported that he returned home to find his house quiet. Clancy, his injured leg, was discovered by Patrick as he searched the yard for the children.
“What did you do? Where are the kids?” The prosecution stated that he did ask.
According to reports, his wife replied. “In the basement.”
Patrick called 911 to report that Patrick found the children trapped in the basement with their exercise bands around their necks.
Clancy was said to have had “suicidal ideations in December of 2022 … and on one occasion had thoughts of harming her children,” According to People, the prosecution stated that she had committed herself to a Boston psychiatric hospital on January 1. According to the prosecution, she was committed to Boston’s psychiatric hospital on Jan. 1, but was released on Jan 5. She allegedly tried to kill her children and committed suicide on January 24.
