Judge orders city officials to clear massive homeless ‘zone’ within 45 days.
Massive Homeless ’Zone’ Must Be Cleared in 45 Days After Judge Drops the Hammer on City Officials
A judge has issued a powerful ruling ordering the Democrat-controlled city of Phoenix to take immediate action to clear out a squalid encampment of uncontrolled homelessness. This ramshackle shanty town, known as “the Zone,” has become a breeding ground for rampant crime, open-air drug use, and filthy streets littered with trash, drug paraphernalia, and human waste.
In his ruling, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Scott Blaney sided with a group of local business owners who have been severely impacted by the presence of the Zone. They argued that the encampment poses a grave threat to public health and safety, causing significant harm to their businesses.
The judge highlighted the city’s intentional decrease in enforcement of criminal and health statutes at the Zone since 2018, which has resulted in a dramatic increase in violent crime, including assault and homicide. He described horrifying incidents, such as burned human bodies found in the streets and a deceased newborn baby abandoned in the Zone.
Furthermore, the judge emphasized the environmental hazards created by the encampment, with human waste, food waste, and trash dumped on the streets. The area has become a biohazard, with the rain intensifying the smell of urine and feces. The proliferation of waste has also led to infestations of flies and other insects.
Not only does the Zone suffer from crime and unsanitary conditions, but it also poses a danger to children due to drug needles and fentanyl-tainted tin foil littering the streets.
Despite a previous order to shut down the encampment, the city of Phoenix has failed to adequately comply. As a result, the judge has set a deadline of November 4 for the city to permanently clear out and clean up the Zone.
It is disheartening to see Phoenix join the ranks of other Democrat-run cities, such as Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco, where homelessness and crime have skyrocketed due to destructive left-wing policies.

We could help but the city refuses. They’re okay with this suffering.

With these catastrophic domestic crises plaguing our nation, it is unfathomable for Democrats to prioritize mass illegal immigration and sending billions of U.S. tax dollars to Ukraine. Just imagine how many homeless shelters, drug-rehab programs, and job training centers could be funded with the billions that America has sent overseas.

This ruling serves as a wake-up call for the city of Phoenix and other cities grappling with the homelessness crisis. It highlights the urgent need for effective policies and strategies to address the issue and prioritize the safety and well-being of both homeless individuals and the general public.
While it is important to have compassion for the homeless and provide support and resources to help them get back on their feet, it is equally essential to ensure that the rights and interests of law-abiding citizens and businesses are protected.
Uncontrolled encampments like the Zone not only create havens for criminal activity and unsanitary conditions but also perpetuate the cycle of homelessness by enabling individuals to live without accountability or access to necessary services and assistance. It is crucial for cities to implement comprehensive and compassionate solutions that address the root causes of homelessness, such as affordable housing, mental health services, addiction treatment, and job training programs.
As the judge’s ruling indicates, neglecting to take swift and decisive action against such encampments can lead to dire consequences for both the homeless population and the surrounding community. It is not enough to simply relocate homeless individuals from one area to another. Instead, long-term and sustainable solutions must be pursued to ensure that vulnerable individuals are provided with the necessary support and services to reintegrate into society.
Additionally, this ruling should also prompt a reflection on the failures of the city’s leadership and the need for accountability. The intentional decrease in enforcement and neglect of the Zone by city officials since 2018 is a clear indication of mismanagement and disregard for public safety. City officials must be held responsible for their inaction and must work diligently to rectify the situation and prevent similar crises from occurring in the future.
Ultimately, this ruling should serve as a catalyst for change. It is an opportunity for the city of Phoenix to reassess its approach to homelessness and adopt evidence-based strategies that prioritize the well-being and safety of all citizens. Only through a collective effort, involving government agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and communities, can we effectively address the challenges of homelessness and create a more inclusive and thriving society.
