Matt Walsh criticizes a Tennessee court ruling that he considers to be extremely flawed, as it blocks a ban on minor sex-change procedures.

Daily Wire Host Slams Tennessee Judge for Blocking Ban on Gender Dysphoria Treatments for Minors

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh passionately criticized a Tennessee state judge on Friday for his decision to block a ban on injecting minors with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to treat gender dysphoria.

In a series of tweets, Walsh expressed his disbelief at the judge’s ruling, calling it “astonishingly bad.” He also mentioned that the state attorney general has already appealed the decision.

The ban on sex-change treatments and surgeries for minors was enacted in Tennessee after an undercover investigation by Walsh and his team revealed that Vanderbilt University Medical Center was providing these treatments to underage teens. However, Judge Richardson’s ruling cited unrelated court cases and disregarded objections about the quality of the data provided by pro-transgender organizations.

“[T]he Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation system permits conclusions to be drawn based on what is considered ‘low-quality evidence,’” Richardson wrote.

Walsh also criticized Richardson for dismissing professional testimony from a clinical psychologist who pointed out flaws in the data. The judge seemed to only value the opinions of doctors who were already profiting from these procedures.

Furthermore, Richardson ignored concerns about the long-term effects and potential dependence on medications for minors receiving cross-sex hormones. He also relied heavily on expert testimony that supported transgender treatments for minors, despite the lack of citations for their work.

Walsh criticized Richardson for downplaying the risks associated with cross-sex hormone treatments and using euphemisms to mask their true impact.

“Even one of the doctors that Judge Richardson’s opinion relies on – Dr. Adkins – admits in her declaration that patients must be informed of ‘irreversible’ risks of cross-sex hormones, including sterilization,” Walsh wrote.

Richardson’s ruling also cited the lack of evidence regarding the safety of these treatments as a reason to continue their use. Walsh highlighted the fact that once the injunction is lifted, Vanderbilt University Medical Center plans to resume sterilizing hormone therapies for minors.

Questionable Associations and Overriding the Will of the People

Walsh also raised concerns about Judge Richardson’s former clerks, one of whom works for a lesbian activist group and another who supports environmental lawsuits against the meat industry. He questioned whether the judge is surrounding himself with left-wing activists and why he chose to override the will of the majority of Tennesseans.

“Is Judge Richardson surrounding himself with left-wing activists? Why did he decide to override the will of the overwhelming majority of Tennesseans in order to allow child castration? Maybe those two questions are related. The good news is the appeal is already underway,” Walsh concluded.
