Matthew Perry’s ketamine dealers could soon be charged in actor’s death – Washington Examiner
Charges are expected to be filed against individuals involved in supplying actor Matthew Perry with ketamine, which was linked to his death in October, according to multiple reports. If charges are to be filed against individuals allegedly involved in supplying ketamine to Matthew Perry, which was linked to his death, it would likely lead to an investigation focusing on the sources of the drug and the circumstances around its provision to Perry. Legal consequences could include charges ranging from possession to distribution, and possibly more severe charges depending on local laws regarding the distribution of controlled substances leading to death.
In handling this case, law enforcement would need to trace the supply chain to determine how Perry obtained the ketamine, whether any medical professionals were involved improperly, or if there were breaches in legal or ethical standards. This case might also trigger broader discussions about the regulation and monitoring of prescription drugs, and could potentially bring awareness and possibly lead to reforms in how controlled substances are managed in the healthcare system.
Public and media scrutiny is expected to be high, given Perry’s celebrity status and the circumstances of his death. This situation would not only impact those directly involved but could also influence public opinion and policies related to drug abuse and mental health treatment in the entertainment industry and beyond.
Charges may soon be filed against several people considered responsible for supplying actor Matthew Perry with the ketamine that led to his death last October, according to several reports.
The Los Angeles Police Department began working with the Drug Enforcement Administration in May to investigate the source of Perry’s ketamine. A source told People that police believe “multiple people” should be charged in his death, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office will make that decision.
While charges may be brought soon, a law enforcement source told NBC News that the investigation will continue.

The Friends star died at the age of 54 at his home on Oct. 28. He was found unresponsive in his pool. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office determined his cause of death to be acute effects of ketamine with contributing factors including the effects of buprenorphine, a drug used to treat opioid use disorder, drowning, and coronary artery disease.
Since the 1990s, Perry has struggled with his drug and alcohol addiction, but prior to his death, he had been clean for 19 months. He was receiving ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression and anxiety, receiving his last treatment a week and a half before his death. However, the medical examiner said the levels of ketamine were still quite high, making it unlikely that his infusions were the source since the body metabolizes it within hours.
