Mayorkas Attributes Latest Murder to ‘Criminal,’ Denies Responsibility, Despite Allegations Against Illegal Alien

Homeland Security Secretary ⁤Alejandro Mayorkas, in an interview with⁣ CNN host Jim Acosta, ⁣denied any responsibility on‌ his part or on the‍ part of President Joe Biden’s administration for crimes committed by illegal ‍immigrants. He made these comments following a question about a murder attributed to an illegal immigrant who entered the U.S. through⁣ the southern⁢ border. Mayorkas emphasized that the individual criminal should be held accountable for their actions, rather than the administration. The victim, a Maryland mother ‍named Rachel Morin, and the administration’s handling of border security were‌ central to the discussion. Criticism noted by commentators‌ focused on Mayorkas’s impersonal reference to the victim, alternating from “individual” to “woman” to “mother” during the interview. Critics argue ‌this approach reflects a lack‌ of responsibility and sensitivity on the part‌ of the administration.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas denied any responsibility for himself or for President Joe Biden’s administration, saying “the criminal” was to blame after yet another murder was allegedly traced back to an illegal immigrant who crossed the porous southern border since Biden took office.

CNN host Jim Acosta posed the question to Mayorkas directly — after first giving him a little cover by claiming that illegal immigrants were statistically not more likely to commit crimes than natural-born Americans — asking how he would respond to those who blamed the administration.

“What do you say to critics who blame the administration for allowing something like this to happen?” Acosta asked. “Obviously this is something you hear in Right-wing media all the time.”

“Jim, first and foremost, of course our hearts break for the children, the family, the loved ones, the friends of the individual who was murdered — the woman — the mother,” Mayorkas replied. “Jim, a criminal is responsible for the criminal act. The criminal who committed this heinous act should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law, and forcefully so. That is my response.”

A number of critics noted that, at least in that particular segment, neither Acosta nor Mayorkas appeared willing to mention the victim, Rachel Morin, by name — and Mayorkas appeared to struggle with what he should call her, transitioning on live television from “individual” to “woman” before settling on “mother.”

“Mayorkas calls her ‘the individual who was murdered,’” Stephen Miller posted.

“This creep refuses to take any responsibility and can’t even be bothered remembering Rachel Morin’s name,” the New York Post’s Miranda Devine added.

Others focused on the fact that he refused to acknowledge the Biden administration’s open borders and how easy it has been for criminals to cross the border and commit crimes in the United States.

“They just don’t care. It’s that simple. The border will remain open, people will pour in unvetted, deportations and enforcement will remain nonexistent, and Americans will continue to die. They just don’t care,” New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino posted.

The Republican-led House has already filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, accusing him of “willfully and systemically” refusing to comply with federal immigration laws and allege he “breached the public trust” with false statements and obstructing lawful oversight of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
