McCarthy defends release of Jan. 6 footage to Tucker Carlson
Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) defended his decision Fox News reporter Tucker Carlson was able to see footage from Jan. 6 Capitol Riot. He split with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.KY). who blasted The move was made after conservative media personalities downplayed how severe the siege.
Carlson claimed that the riot took place in California, but California Republican John Carlson repeatedly refused to answer questions. “mostly peaceful chaos,” Telling reporters that he “didn’t see what was aired” and agreed to release the video to raise transparency.

“I didn’t see what was aired. What I want to do exactly is give transparency to everybody, and everybody can make up their own conclusion,” He stated.
McCarthy’s decision not to give the footage to Carlson received sharp criticism from Democrats as well as some members of the GOP. They argued Carlson had spread misinformation about a variety of subjects.
McConnell said it to reporters following Carlson’s segment. It aired Monday evening.
