McCarthy Invites Biden To Deliver State Of The Union Address
After being invited by Kevin McCarthy (R.-CA), President Joe Biden will give his State of the Union address.
McCarthy, who was nominated speaker by his peers a little over a week earlier, sent Biden a Friday letter that established February 7th as the date for the president’s speech before a joint session Congress.
“It is my solemn obligation to invite the president to speak before a Joint Session of Congress on February 7th so that he may fulfill his duty under the Constitution to report on the state of the union,” McCarthy stated this in a tweet.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Biden accepted the invitation. According to a Bloomberg Government reporter.
The speech will be Biden’s first State of the Union address before a divided Congress, as Republicans won control of the House in the 2022 midterm elections and Democrats kept the Senate.
Biden could announce a 2024 bid for reelection, which could allow him to challenge former President Donald Trump in general elections.
