McCarthy Pushes To Immediately End Pandemic Emergencies After Biden Says He Won’t Do It Till May
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), stated Monday night during an interview that he’s introducing a bill This week To end the COVID crisis that was created under former President Donald Trump. It has been extended almost three years since then under the Biden administration.
McCarthy spoke on Fox Business following Biden’s announcement to Congress this week that he would end the COVID-19 national crisis and the public health emergency.
“We’re putting a bill on the floor to end this pandemic,” McCarthy spoke. “Do you realize that 47 percent of the federal employees are still not in for work? When we took the majority and I became speaker, one of my first actions was make members of Congress to come back to work. For the first time in history, members of Congress didn’t have to show up, and they kept getting paid.”
“I think people have to show the work ethic. I think people should show up to work,” He continued. “And we’re going to pass that bill this week that brings — brings those federal employees back to work to provide the service that they’re getting — that the taxpayers are paying them for.”
FOX BUSINESS NETWORK ANCHOR, SEAN DUFFY: This week, President Biden will meet with Kevin McCarthy, Speaker.
However, he said this earlier today about negotiations.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP).
QUESTION – Speaker McCarthy: When he states he wants negotiations, what do YOU say to him?
JOE BIDEN PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATES : Show me your budget and I will show it to you.
(END VIDEO CLIP).
DUFFY
Leader McCarthy — I mean, not leader — Speaker McCarthy, good to see you. I was downgrading. Congratulations, by the way, on the big speaker’s win. I haven’t spoke to you since.
Talk to Joe Biden about the negotiations on Wednesday. And I’m doing a two-part question for you, which I know you don’t like.
(LAUGHTER)
DUFFY. But are all Republicans still sticking together? You won a very small majority. It’s great to see you all rally together and fight for this cause.
REP. KEVIN McCATHY (R-CA),: Yes.
First, let me say congratulations to you two. It is an honor to be a part of the hottest show on TV. You guys are amazing. You guys are both my favorite. And I’m so excited for what happens in the future.
DUFFY: Mr. Speaker, thank you.
MCCARTHY: So let me do a good job, so you invite me back, OK?
DUFFY: Absolutely.
MCCARTHY – Yes, we do.
For the president to say he doesn’t want to negotiate something this large, I mean, when you think back to 2011, when he was vice president, they even called the negotiations after the debt — over the debt ceiling the Biden negotiations.
I mean, to think that the president believes there’s no place in government you can’t cut and have a savings for the hardworking taxpayers, there’s so much waste out there. And we need to return to a balance.
This is what you need to think about. We currently have 120 percent GDP and only 12% of our debt. We haven’t been this place since World War II. This means that our economy is more in debt than our income. It’s like giving your child a credit card, they charge it up, you’re responsible for the charges, but do you just raise the limit? Or do you look at, what are we spending on, and let’s eliminate some of this?
It’s done by every family, every business, in every state and every county. And when I’m going to go see the president, that’s exactly what I’m going to tell him. We need to sit down together, find common ground, find where we can eliminate the waste, and let’s put our country back on a path where we can balance and give our future brighter than before.
It looked like we were fighting back when we first came into power, according to the Republican Party. It turned out to have been very healthy because we only have five seats. Greg Steube has been home for a few weeks. He was thrown from a tree. So we’re going to work very closely together.
And I think you’re going to find us more united than ever before. Take a look at what we did in the first week. Bipartisan, we created the Select Committee on China. We got 146 Democrats along with us. We also got 113 Democrats voting with us to stop the president from selling oil from our reserves to China.
This was the first open floor meeting in seven years. Anybody can present an amendment. The Democrats were shocked because they’d never allow you to do that.
DAGEN McDOOWELL, FOX BUSINESS ANCHOR : This runaway inflation was caused by all the spending of the Democrats.
MCCARTHY: Yes. Exactly.
MCDOWELL: You and the
