A video clip posted by NBC affiliate WLWT showed the 81-year-old McConnell struggling to respond to a question about his thoughts on running for re-election. He began to say, “That’s uh…” but then fell silent for a few moments. A woman rushed to his side and asked if he heard the question.

McConnell appeared to respond with a quiet “yes” but did not speak any further, remaining motionless. The situation prompted the woman to apologize and call for another aide. They stood beside McConnell for a few moments until he indicated that he was able to continue.
“Okay,” McConnell said, and the woman asked reporters if they had another question for the senator.

Despite the incident, McConnell managed to answer a few more questions before concluding the press conference at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Government Forum.
This tense moment occurred approximately four weeks after McConnell’s previous freeze-up while speaking to the press on Capitol Hill. After being escorted away from the podium, McConnell returned and assured everyone that he was “fine.”
