McDonald’s temporarily shuts US offices, prepares layoff notices -WSJ

McDonald’s Corp, the fast-food giant, will temporarily close its U.S. offices as part of a broader restructuring effort that will involve significant staff cuts. The company will deliver the news to its workers over two days via video calls. The number of employees expected to lose their jobs has not been confirmed. The company did, however, ask workers to work from home between Monday and Wednesday, and cancel all in-person meetings with outside parties. McDonald’s said in January that it would review corporate staffing levels as part of a broader business strategy, with some areas seeing job cuts while others would see expansion.

The burger chain’s staffing decisions are expected to be made by Monday. McDonald’s has not responded to a request for comment.

The news comes amid a week rife with major headlines on local and international levels.

South Carolina Congressman Ralph Norman tells One America News that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his indictment of the 45th President are likely soon to be subjects of scrutiny by congressional investigative committees.
