Medical Examiner Releases Official Cause Of Death For Famed Rapper Coolio

The Los Angeles County medical examiner released their findings, confirming that Coolio, the popular rapper who died in September of last year at the age of 59, died from a combination of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine. According to reports, the rapper, whose given name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died while at a friend’s house in Los Angeles after using the restroom and not returning for an extended period of time.

It is important to note that the medical examiner’s report also listed Coolio’s asthma and cardiomyopathy as contributing factors to his death. The rapper had a long history of drug addiction, which likely played a role as well.

TMZ reported that Coolio’s children are planning on honoring their father’s legacy with documentaries and films.

Fentanyl, notorious for being one of the most potent opioids on the market, is responsible for tens of thousands of overdose deaths annually in the United States. It is 100 times stronger than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin.

Coolio’s rise to fame was a story of triumph, with a difficult upbringing in Compton, California, leading him to become one of the most beloved recording artists of his time. With more than 17 million records sold globally and countless awards, including a Grammy for his hit song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” he was an icon in the music industry.

In the wake of his passing, Sheila Finegan, Coolio’s manager, released a statement thanking fans for their support and expressing her deep sadness. It is clear that Coolio’s memory and contributions to the music world will continue to be celebrated for generations to come.
