Meghan Markle Accused of “Elder Abuse” by Her Half-Sister

Earlier this week, we reported that Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle, had suffered a major stroke. Now, Meghan’s estranged half-sister Samantha Markle is accusing the royal of “elder abuse” and “negligence” for not going to visit their father after this devastating event.

Backstory: Meghan Markle’s Estranged Father Thomas Suffers Major Stroke

‘He’s Been Through So Much’

“He’s been through so much — two heart attacks, a pandemic and now a stroke. None of us have heard from Meghan. That’s negligence,” Samantha said, according to The New York Post.

“If she can’t find it in her heart or have the moral conscience to step forward then shame on her,” she added. “He doesn’t have a lot of time. She’s going to have to live with that for the rest of her life.”

Not stopping there, Samantha proceeded to outright accuse her sister of “elder abuse.”

“She sees all of this. I’m getting the feeling that I would be spinning my wheels to try and appeal to her heart now,” Samantha said. “She could have contacted him to work things out at any time and she hasn’t. How can she watch him suffer like this? Who does that?”

Thomas’ Stroke

After suffering a stroke at his home in Tijuana, Thomas was rushed across the border to a hospital in Chula Vista, California late Monday night. The stroke was so bad that Thomas was not even able to speak to paramedics to tell them his symptoms, and instead had to write them down.

Samantha immediately flew to California from her home in Florida to be with her father during this difficult time.

“My father is recovering in [the] hospital,” Samantha told Daily Mail.

“We ask for privacy for the family, for his health and wellbeing. He just needs peace and rest,” she continued. “It’s a travesty how much he’s been tortured and how much he’s had to go through thanks to my sister’s disregard the past few years. That is unforgivable.”

Thomas’ Platinum Jubilee Plans

Thomas had been planning to soon fly to the United Kingdom for the Queen’s upcoming Platinum Jubilee next month. There, he was to be hosted by Lady Colin Campbell. He was set to attend various events that would honor the Queen’s record-breaking seventy years on the British throne.

Meghan has not spoken to Thomas since before her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry, and she is understood to have not had contact with Samantha since years before that. It remains to be seen if her father’s deteriorating health will result in Meghan putting their past behind them and reaching out to him.
