Megyn Kelly wants CNN to let candidates debate: ‘No one gives a s***’ about the moderators – Washington Examiner
Megyn Kelly, a host on SiriusXM’s “Megyn Kelley Show,” expressed criticism regarding the rules set for a CNN presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. Kelly argued that the debate should proceed without the moderating influence of CNN anchors, specifically naming Dana Bash and Jake Tapper, implying that their involvement is unnecessary and unappreciated by the public. Her comments underscore her belief that the candidates should be allowed to freely interact without moderator constraints.
Megyn Kelly criticized the rules of Thursday’s CNN presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden, saying the candidates should be allowed to debate without the constraints of debate moderators.
“No one gives a s*** about Dana Bash or Jake Tapper, with respect to them both,” the SiriusXM Megyn Kelly Show host said, referring to the CNN anchors who will be moderating the debate.
TRUMP AND BIDEN DUKE IT OUT WITH VIRAL ADS AHEAD OF DEBATE
“They’re not showing up to see them. Most Americans have no idea who they are. They want to see the two gorillas go at it. Eff your rules! Let them do the thing they showed up to do — debate!” she said.
The former Fox News anchor said viewers want “the incredibly shrinking moderator.”
Kelly clashed with Trump in 2015 during a presidential debate when she asked him about derogatory remarks he had made about some women, in which he called them “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals.” Trump said he was only referring to Rosie O’Donnell. He slammed Kelly after the debate for her question.
On Thursday, ahead of the debate, she complained that moderators can get a sense of self-importance and “miss the chance” for the debate to actually happen.
“Sometimes, the moderator can fall so in love with his or her own voice and questions that they miss the chance to let the candidates actually debate,” Kelly said.
Kelly noted that “there’s gold there” when the candidates are “mixing it up.”
“It’s not an interview. It’s so much more boring when it’s like, ‘Oh gee, I get to really hear what’s interesting to Jake Tapper get answered by this,’” Kelly said.

“I want to see what does Trump think Biden needs to answer for,” she added.
Biden and Trump will face off in the first presidential debate of the 2024 general election on Thursday night in Atlanta, with several rules, including only providing two commercial breaks and no props or prewritten notes.
