According to Page Six, former first lady Melania Trump has become a source of comfort for her husband as he faces mounting state and federal indictments while running for a second term as president.
“Melania is being credited by his friends with keeping President Trump ‘calm and focused’ amid the hellish week of his being indicted for the third time,” a reported “Trump insider” told Page Six.
Despite his tough exterior, Trump’s legal issues have taken a toll on him. A source close to the former first family revealed, ”Friends whisper these last few weeks have been hard on Trump, and although he always presents a tough front, these constant legal assaults are affecting his day-to-day life.”
Melania has taken on a behind-the-scenes role to offer a sense of calm. The source added, “Melania’s even better than his regular golf games at keeping his temper in check. She provides a peaceful life for him when he needs it.”
Trump and Melania start their day with breakfast alongside their son Barron. Melania ensures a distraction-free environment by turning off the news and discouraging phone or social media use at the table.
Furthermore, Melania is said to be fully supportive of Trump’s third presidential bid. The source stated, “She backs his bid for a second term completely, and listens to him when he needs someone he can trust. [Melania] is obsessively private, she never gossips with even her closest friends, so Trump knows when they talk about important things it’s just between them.”
Trump’s Legal Troubles
Trump has faced a series of indictments in recent months. In April, he was indicted in New York City on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Two months later, a federal grand jury indicted him for the alleged mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home and resort.
Special Counsel Jack Smith has charged Trump with numerous counts, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and making false statements and representations.
Last week, Trump was charged by the Department of Justice for his decision to challenge the results of the 2020 election. The charges include conspiracy to defraud the U.S., obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy to prevent others from carrying out their constitutional rights.
Additionally, Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis has hinted at the possibility of filing charges related to Trump’s election challenge in the state.
While the specific charges from Willis have not been revealed, reports suggest that Trump may face a fourth indictment in as many months.
