Mercedes Recalls Almost 324,000 Cars Due to Engine Stalling

DETROIT–Mercedes is remembering almost 324,000 vehicles in the U.S. since the engines can stall while they’re being driven.

The recall covers a variety of designs from the 2012 to 2020 design years consisting of the ML550, ML350, AMG ML63, ML250, ML400, GLE450, GLE300, GLE350, GLE550, GLE400, AMG GLE43, and AMG GLE63.

The National Highway Traffic Security Administration states in files published Thursday that water can collect in the extra tire wheel well and harm the fuel pump control system. That can make the engines stall.

Dealerships will look for water invasion, set up a drain plug and change the fuel pump if required. Owners will be informed by letter beginning Feb. 21.

Mercedes states in files that it knows 773 U.S. guarantee claims, field reports, and service reports due to the issue. The business states it’s not knowledgeable about any crashes or injuries brought on by the flaw.
