Mexico’s President Threatens To Meddle In U.S. Elections To Beat Republicans: ‘Corrupt’ To Stop Cartels
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (also known as AMLO), a leftist Mexican president, threatened the Republican Party at a Thursday press conference because he wanted to use the U.S. military against the country’s powerful, multi-billion-dollar drug cartels.
Obrador’s remarks are coming as Republican lawmakers, including former Attorney General William Barr, call for the U.S. military to end the flow of drug money worth billions to the U.S. each year that causes tens to thousands of deaths. Human smuggling was the only source of revenue for the cartels last year, making them $13 billion.
After four Americans were kidnapped by Mexico this week, two of them were eventually killed, lawmakers made these remarks.
“We establish our position at once: we are not going to allow any foreign government to intervene, much less the armed forces of a foreign government, to intervene in our territory,” He made the declaration at a press conference. “And starting today, we are going to initiate an information campaign (aimed at) Mexicans who live and work in the United States, and all Hispanics, to inform them about what we are doing in Mexico and how this initiative from the Republicans, besides being irresponsible, is an offense against the people on Mexico.”

“A lack of respect for our independence, for our sovereignty,” He went on. “And if they do not change their attitude and think that they are going to use Mexico for their propagandist, electioneering, and (dirty) political purposes, we are going to call for them not to vote for that party, (due to its being) interventionist, inhumane, hypocritical, and corrupt.”
“Because we do not accept what this senator said yesterday,” He said this as he waved his fingers. “Mexico is to be respected. We are not a protectorate of the United States. Nor a colony of the United States. Mexico is a free, independent, and sovereign country.”
