Michelle Obama goes after Trump on women’s healthcare: ‘A vote for him is a vote against us’ – Washington Examiner
At a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Kalamazoo, Michigan, former First Lady Michelle Obama criticized former President Donald Trump, focusing on issues related to women’s healthcare. Obama urged voters to consider the potential consequences of supporting Trump, asserting that he lacks understanding and respect for women’s issues. She stated, “Please do not hand our fates over to the likes of Trump,” emphasizing that a vote for him is effectively a vote against women’s interests. Her remarks highlighted a broader concern about the implications of political decisions on women’s rights and autonomy, framing the upcoming election as pivotal for protecting these interests.
Michelle Obama goes after Trump on women’s healthcare: ‘A vote for him is a vote against us’
Speaking at a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Saturday evening, former first lady Michelle Obama focused her remarks heavily on women’s healthcare and made several jabs at former President Donald Trump.
Attempting to strike a contrast between Harris and Trump, Obama urged voters to “not hand” women’s fates to Trump, who she claimed “knows nothing about us.”
“Please do not hand our fates over to the likes of Trump, who knows nothing about us, who has shown deep contempt for us, because a vote for him is a vote against us,” she said.
Obama also went after politicians more broadly, saying, “The only people who have standing to make these decisions are women with the advice of their doctors. We are the ones with the knowledge and experience to know what we need.”
“Do not put our lives in the hands of politicians, mostly men who have no clue or do not care what we, as women, are going through, who don’t fully grasp the broad-reaching health implications that their misguided policies will have on our health outcomes,” she said.
She also touched on other health-related issues including the COVID-19 pandemic, claiming Trump had “no clue how to get us out of that crisis.”
“My husband left him a very detailed pandemic plan,” Obama said. “And you know what he did? He ignored it. He had no clue how to get us out of that crisis, no ability to bring back the millions of jobs we lost so suddenly, no idea how to get our students back into schools safely.”
This is Michelle Obama’s first appearance at a rally alongside Harris this election cycle, which will come to a close in 10 days. Her husband, former President Barack Obama, has been a recent fixture at Harris’s rallies, including just last night at a rally in North Carolina.
