Carpenter posted the anti-Semitic remarks from Texas, where he stated that he would soon return to Michigan to fulfill his threats. Sources claim that the state has several elected officials of Jewish descent, including Attorney General Dana Nessel and Representative Elissa slotkin (D-Mich.), just to name a few.
“The FBI confirmed that I was a target in this case. “It is my sincere wish that the federal authorities treat this offense as seriously as my Hate Crimes & Domestic Terrorism Unit takes plans to murder elected officials,” Nessel stated in a tweet.
Later, the FBI reported that Carpenter was being investigated for stealing firearms in 2022. Carpenter was arrested for assault and had allegedly stolen a gun from his girlfriend. His mother informed FBI agents that Carpenter was in possession of “multiple firearms”, including a 12-gauge shotgun and a military-style hunting gun.
Local reports claim Carpenter is currently being held in Detroit federal court without bail. Carpenter could spend up to five years in federal jail if convicted for “transmitting a threat interstate.”
