Michigan lawmaker says he was ‘framed’ after arrest for allegedly chasing stripper with gun
Michigan state Rep. Neil Friske, a Republican, released a statement claiming he was framed after he was arrested for allegedly chasing a stripper with a firearm.
Earlier this month, Friske was arrested following a disturbance involving a firearm and a possible sexual assault after an altercation with an adult dancer. While Friske was released with no charges, records obtained by the Detroit Free Press show Lansing, Michigan, police requested felony charges of sexual assault, assault, and a weapons-related offense against Friske on the night of his arrest.
“Due to the ongoing investigation, there are details I cannot disclose at the moment,” Friske wrote in his statement. “What I can say is that the police were called, resulting in being detained due to false accusations. However, upon initial investigation, no evidence was found to support the claims and I was subsequently released with no charges. I am confident that this investigation will totally exonerate me.”
Friske also blamed media narratives for false accusations, writing that despite the narrative in the media, he maintains his innocence.
When speaking on the conservative radio show Your Defending Fathers last week, Friske said he was framed.
“Just the way events unfolded, it was very clear to me that something wasn’t right and I was being framed and trying to be framed and being set up,” He said.
He has not been charged or arraigned and it is unclear what charges he would face from the altercation.

According to the Heartland Signal, Friske’s family history has also been a point of contention, as his father, Richard, immigrated to the United States after serving in the Nazi Germany army during World War II, then briefly served in Michigan’s statehouse in the 1970s. Friske also donated to David Duke’s campaigns in the 1990s, and Duke has been labeled the “most well-known racist anti-Semite” by the Anti-Defamation League and a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
Friske is running for his second term in Michigan’s 107th House district.
