The Congressman underwent surgery this afternoon to take away a tiny malignancy that had developed in his tonsil. As part of his typical regeneration, he is anticipated to spend the next few years at George Washington University Hospital. The Congressman is anticipated to continue his rescue at home later this year, according to Kildee’s’s office.

The statement continued,” The Congressman is grateful to have received his cancer diagnosis early and appreciates the care of his excellent team of doctors.”

The Michigan Democrat reported in March that he had been given a squamous cell carcinoma diagnosis. As he recovers from the operation, his office already confirmed that some votes in the House this week would be missed.

The Congressman may not be able to cast any seats in the U.S. House of Representatives due to surgery and recovery time. To have his constituents informed of his positions during this time, the Congressman did submit written statements to the House Clerk for any lost recorded seats. The city offices of Congressmen and Washington, D.C. offices are still available and able to help constituents, according to a statement from Kildee’s’s office.

Since his diagnosis, the Congressman, his wife Jennifer, and the Kildee life have received numerous friendly words and well wishes. The senator expresses gratitude to his constituents and fellow members of Congress for their unwavering assistance, according to the statement.

Kildee has served in the House of Representatives since 2013 and is presently the co-chair of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
