Michigan State Shooting Suspect Was Convicted Felon Released From Prison Less Than Two Years Ago

Anthony Dwayne McRae (a 43-year old convicted felon) has been identified as being the shooter at Michigan State University Monday night.

The violent act resulted Three people died, and five other were critically hurt.

According to reports McRae was confronted by police and shot himself miles from campus.

After serving an 18-month sentence, he was released from prison on May 20, 2021 for possession of a loaded firearm in vehicle.

Officials claim that there is no motive or connection between the shooting and the university. All classes, activities, and sports were cancelled for 48 hour.

According to the station, the identities of the victims are not yet known as their families have not been notified.

McRae, according to multiple reports, had been living with his father in Lansing (Michigan) for the past one year.

“He’s never done any harm to anyone,” neighbor Megan Bender of McRae’s father, Mike McRae. “He’s just an old man, minds his business.”

Megan Bender, a neighbor of McRae’s father, speculated that McRae was on his way home after the shooting when he was confronted by the police.

After listening to the police reports over the scanner, she was relieved that McRae hadn’t made it home. According to police reports, the shooting started in an academic building. It then moved on to the student Union, which is a popular spot where students can study or eat together. The Associated Press.

As first responders searched campus for shooter, students hid where they could.

“This truly has been a nightmare we’re living tonight,” Chris Rozman, interim chief of campus police said.
