Pence criticizes DeSantis over RFK Jr backing.
Former Vice President Mike Pence Criticizes Gov. Ron DeSantis for Supporting RFK Jr.
Former Vice President Mike Pence recently expressed his disapproval of Governor Ron DeSantis’ endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In a statement, Pence highlighted Kennedy’s stance on abortion as a disqualifying factor for any potential role in a Pence administration.
DeSantis Addresses Differences with RFK Jr.
During an interview with Clay Travis on OutKick, Governor DeSantis discussed his support for RFK Jr.’s views on COVID-19 and vaccines. However, he also acknowledged their differences on various issues, which he believes could create challenges if Kennedy were to be considered as a running mate.
“If you’re president, sic him on the FDA if he’d be willing to serve or sic him on CDC,” DeSantis responded. “In terms of being veep, if there’s 70% of the issues that he may be averse to our base on, that just creates an issue.”
Republicans Divided on RFK Jr.
RFK Jr. has garnered praise from Republicans for his positions on COVID-19, vaccines, the Biden administration, and the war in Ukraine. However, some Republicans, including Pence, remain cautious about aligning with him due to his liberal stance on abortion and other issues.
While RFK Jr. has seen an increase in popularity in the polls, he is still considered a long-shot candidate compared to President Joe Biden, who enjoys the support of most Democratic leaders.
