Mike Pence Says He Discovered Classified Docs From Time as VP at Indiana Home
Vice President Mike Pence Tuesday’s testimony to Congress was that he found documents with classified markings in his Carmel home, Indiana on January 16, during his time as vice-president.
After the revelations about classified documents from President Biden’s tenure as vice-president were made public at the Penn Biden Center thinktank and Wilmington, Delaware, the vice presidential’s team searched Pence’s Indiana home, and the office of his political advocacy organization, Advancing American Freedom.

According to his team Pence informed National Archives on January 18 about two small boxes containing potential classified documents. The other two boxes contained copies from vice presidential papers. Following standard procedure, the National Archives informed FBI.
Greg Jacob, the Pence attorney, wrote January 18 to Acting Secretary Kate Dillon McClure from the White House Liaison Section National Archives and Record Administration informing her of the documents “containing classified markings.”
According to the Pence team, the documents with classified markings had been discovered and were immediately placed in a safe.
The FBI collected the documents at Pence’s Carmel, Indiana home on Thursday, January 19. Pence was attending the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. when the FBI took the documents.
Pence’s team explained that, although classified markings are on the documents, the Department of Justice and the agency that issued them will need to decide if they are classified.
Greg Jacob, Pence’s lawyer, wrote to William the Chief Operating Officer. “Jay” Bosanko from the National Archives and Records Administration, Jan. 22. The DOJ deviated from the standard procedures it followed with Biden when it demanded direct possession on Jan. 19.

Other documents, which were not classified, were also moved from Indiana to Washington, D.C. National Archives.
Pence’s Advancing American Freedom bureau did not have any classified docs.
