Former Vice President Mike Pence Criticizes Trump After Indictment
Former Vice President Mike Pence took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the recent indictment of former President Donald Trump by the Justice Department.
Special counsel Jack Smith announced a four-charge indictment against Trump, relating to his actions surrounding the 2020 election results and the Capitol disturbance in January 2021.
The charges against Trump include conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
Pence, in a series of tweets, aligned himself with the federal government’s stance on the indictment.
Today’s indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States.

Pence also criticized Trump’s 2024 campaign, referring to it as a “distraction.” He took the opportunity to promote his own campaign, which has faced challenges in gaining support from voters.
As Americans, his candidacy means less attention paid to Joe Biden’s disastrous economic policies afflicting millions across the United States and to the pattern of corruption with Hunter.

In an announcement of the charges against Trump, Smith stated that the former president used “lies” about the 2020 election to incite the attack on the Capitol.
Trump also faces another federal indictment for mishandling classified documents and New York state charges of falsifying business records.
