Mike Pompeo criticizes Trump on national debt crisis, says ‘any conservative president would do better’

Foumer Secretary to State Mike Pompeo He sharpened his criticism of the former President Donald Trump Sunday “any conservative” Trump would do a better job of addressing the nation’s debt crisis than Trump.

“I think a President Pompeo or any conservative president will do better than — not only we did during the four years of the Trump administration — [but] Barack Obama, George Bush,” Pompeo told Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream. “The system is at risk if we don’t get it right. We are $31 trillion in the hole.”

Pompeo also stressed that the task will require a “true conservative” Leader to address the country’s growing fiscal problems

“Are you saying President Trump wasn’t a true conservative,” Bream asked him.

“$6 trillion more in debt. That’s never the right direction for the country,” He responded.

Pompeo has delicately critiqued his boss over the past months. Pompeo referred to Trump’s mounting national debt and blocked him from criticizing China in Friday’s address to the Conservative Political Action Conference. It was also suggested that Trump had led his party to several electoral losses.

“We can’t become the left, following celebrity leaders with their own brand of identity politics, those with fragile egos who refuse to acknowledge reality,” Pompeo spoke at the Conservative Confab.

Pompeo briefly held the position of Trump’s CIA director. However, he was evasive about whether he meant to knock Trump with his remarks. “it’s about the American people and getting this right.”
