Mike Turner accuses Biden administration of not taking Iranian attacks seriously – Washington Examiner
Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) has criticized the Biden administration for its handling of Iranian missile attacks against Israel, claiming that President Biden downplays these threats because the missiles aren’t hitting their intended targets. During an appearance on Fox Business, Turner pointed out that despite the launch of several hundred missiles by Iran, the Biden administration seems to disregard the situation, framing it as merely a regional conflict. He argues that this perspective fails to recognize Iran’s ongoing efforts, along with its proxies Hezbollah and Hamas, to undermine Israel’s existence. Turner expressed his disagreement with the administration’s call for a ceasefire, emphasizing the need for a more serious response to the Iranian attacks.
Mike Turner accuses Biden administration of not taking Iranian attacks seriously
Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) implied that President Joe Biden doesn’t count Iranian missiles against Israel because they’re not hitting their intended targets.
More than a year has passed since Hamas attacked Israel, and the nation now finds itself fighting off Iran at the same time. Biden long-toed the line between helping Israel and trying to keep the peace. Ultimately, Biden called for a ceasefire. Turner appeared on Fox Business’s Sunday Morning Futures With Maria Bartiromo to disagree with the administration’s stance.
“Over several hundred missiles that Iran has launched against Israel, and the Biden administration has attempted to act like, well, since they — like since they didn’t hit their intended targets, it’s as if they didn’t happen then trying to restrain Israel’s response,” Turner said. “Part of the other problems with the Biden administration is they’ve continued to look at this as just a regional conflict rather than just the continuation of Iran’s efforts to continue to attack Israel to challenge its right to exist with its proxies Hezbollah and Hamas, and now Iran’s direct attacks on Israel itself.”
According to Turner, Israel is “rightly defending itself.” He also restated his belief that these conflicts would not have started under a second consecutive Trump administration. The congressman predicted that should Trump win in November, there would be “real and significant consequences” that would end the conflicts altogether.
Both Trump and Kamala Harris met with Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this summer. However, when Netanyahu appeared before Congress in July, many senators and congressmen opted to skip the speech in protest. Harris was not present for the speech but met with Netanyahu afterward.
