New entrance standards to be adopted by military branches due to recruitment goals not being met.
The Pentagon to Allow Calculators on Military Entrance Exam
The Pentagon has announced a significant change to the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), the military’s entrance exam. According to Military.com, new recruits will now be allowed to use calculators during the assessment.
This decision comes as the military faces a recruiting crisis, with a growing number of applicants failing to meet the necessary qualifications. Additionally, there have been criticisms that the military has been embracing left-wing agendas.
“We are taking a systematic approach, which will assess the impact of calculator use, and we are developing a way forward for calculator inclusion,” said one Pentagon official.
While a specific timeline for the implementation of calculators on the ASVAB has not been provided, this change marks a significant departure from the exam’s traditional format, which has remained largely unchanged since its introduction in 1968.
The Pentagon has been cautious about implementing this new policy due to concerns about lowering standards for enlistment. However, with a growing number of applicants failing to meet academic or physical requirements, the need for adjustments has become apparent.
Recent data from the Pentagon reveals that 77 percent of young Americans do not qualify for military service, citing reasons such as drug use, obesity, mental health issues, and poor performance on aptitude tests.
Furthermore, the military has faced criticism for its embrace of left-wing agenda items, including diversity and inclusion policies, as well as LGBTQ-related programs. These factors have contributed to a decline in public confidence in the military, with only 60 percent of Americans expressing trust in the institution.
The recruiting crisis has affected all branches of the military, particularly the Army, Air Force, and Navy. Despite efforts to meet recruitment goals, these branches are expected to fall short once again this year.
As of now, the Pentagon has not provided a comment on this new calculator policy.
