Million-dollar man: How George Soros pumped cash into Manhattan DA who could indict Trump
A $1 million donation from liberal billionaire George Soros to Color of Change, a racial justice PAC, has raised questions as to its potential impact on the indictment of former President Donald Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The PAC later used the money to support Bragg’s successful bid for the district attorney position against criminal defense attorney Thomas Kenniff, who was backed by Republicans.
Trump may soon be indicted in relation to hush money payments he allegedly made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016 to keep quiet about their sexual relationship.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has criticized the Manhattan district attorney, who he says is a Soros-funded prosecutor along with other Soros-funded prosecutors who utilize their office for political agendas at the expense of the rule of law and public safety.
Bragg, who was backed by Soros and his family’s donations, has been accused of being “soft-on-crime” for his record in supporting 74 other prosecutors in recent years who have similar policies. Color of Change, which has called for defunding of the police, had pulled $500,000 of donations to Bragg in relation to an anonymous allegation made against Bragg by a woman.
Republicans, including House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, and House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-WI), demanded records from Bragg following rumors of his potential politically motivated decision to indict Trump.
On Wednesday, the Manhattan grand jury investigating the case delayed making a decision on whether Trump should be indicted for the hush money payments.
