Trump’s Financial Boost Doesn’t Alter Key VP Criteria – Washington Examiner

Former President Donald Trump has experienced a substantial increase in campaign donations following his conviction. Despite ‍this, his major criterion for ‌selecting a vice-presidential candidate remains their ability to fundraise. This trend is beneficial for Governor Ron ⁤DeSantis, suggesting that fundraising prowess is a significant factor for Trump ⁤in his ⁣selection process for ‍a running mate. There isn’t any available information as of my last update indicating that former President Donald Trump has ‌been convicted of any crime. Additionally, it should be noted that⁣ as of now, discussions about ⁤his criteria ‌for selecting a vice-presential candidate, including the emphasis on their ability to⁤ fundraise, are speculative. Governor Ron DeSantis has been mentioned frequently in⁣ political conversations ⁤as a potential running mate for ‍Trump if he were to⁤ run again, given ‍his prominent status in the Republican Party and ‍his own robust fundraising efforts. However, these discussions ⁢are theoretical without direct confirmation from⁤ Trump or his campaign about his⁣ criteria for selecting ‌a running mate or his intentions‍ for the 2024 presidential election.

Former President Donald Trump has watched a surge of donations flood into his campaign stockpile since his conviction, but it hasn’t changed one of his top qualities in a vice-president: fundraising ability.

That’s good news for Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), who has been one of Trump’s top fundraisers and a top choice for the former president’s vice presidential spot. Sens. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Tim Scott (R-SC) have also participated heavily in the Trump fundraising circuit.

Scott has been asked to make fundraising calls on Trump’s behalf, while Vance and Burgum hosted a fundraiser and called a seven-figure donor, respectively.

The Republican National Committee has hatched a fundraising plan for Trump’s vice presidential pick, and its finance team has met every Wednesday to discuss vice-presidential fundraising, according to Axios.

There are plans, the outlet reports, for Trump and his VP pick to host a reception in Milwaukee on July 17, during the Republican National Convention, which will be called the “Strength in Unity Reception.”

While it’s widely speculated that Trump will have his choice before the Republican National Convention, July 17 appears to be the first solid date for the former president to have his vice presidential choice.

Trump beat President Joe Biden in fundraising in May after his New York hush-money trial decision boosted fundraising enough to erase Biden’s cash advantage.

Other important factors for a vice-presidential choice are their rapport with Trump and their skill on television. The convention takes place from July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee, a place Trump has allegedly called a “horrible city.”
