12-year-old girl trafficked for $5 million, says grandmother.
The Shocking Disappearance of a 12-Year-Old Girl: Sold to Human Traffickers for $5 Million?
In a heart-wrenching revelation, the grandmother of a 12-year-old girl who has been missing for nine months claims that her granddaughter was sold to human traffickers for a staggering $5 million.
Rodica Cojocari, the grandmother, recently spoke to Charlotte, North Carolina news outlet WCNC-TV and expressed her belief that Madalina Cojocari is still alive but has been kidnapped.
According to reports, Madalina was last seen on November 23, 2022, at the age of 11.
Her mother, Diana Cojocari, claims to have seen Madalina that night, but the next morning, she discovered that her daughter was missing.
Christopher Palmiter, Madalina’s stepfather, stated that he had left that morning to retrieve some belongings in Michigan after an argument with his wife, as reported by Fox News.
Shockingly, neither parent reported Madalina missing until three weeks later.
Diana Cojocari admitted to the police that she delayed reporting her daughter’s disappearance because she didn’t want to escalate the conflict with her husband.
Both parents were arrested in December for failing to report a missing child to the authorities.
Rodica Cojocari firmly places the blame on her daughter’s husband for the dire situation.

“Chris Palmiter is the instrument,” Rodica Cojocari declared in her interview with WCNC. “He stalked them for two years. He had no documents in his home. He stole their documents and held them in the home… like prisoners.”
Through an interpreter, the Moldovan native further alleged, “Lately, he would use narcotics to make them sleep, both Madalina and Diana.”
“He would mix these narcotics into their juice. Diana and Madalina unknowingly consumed it, and then he would take Madalina out of the bedroom and hand her over to traffickers. I don’t know who these traffickers are.”
Tearfully, Rodica Cojocari told WCNC that her son-in-law denies any knowledge of the situation, but she firmly believes he is lying.
“Our Madalina is alive, and Diana was warned that ‘if you tell the police anything, I will kill you.’ Chris knows who he sold our granddaughter to… but he is involved with criminals.”
In July, Queen City News reported on newly unsealed court records that shed light on a recorded jailhouse phone call between Diana Cojocari and her mother. In the call, they discussed “a bag of money, withdrawing cash, and a theory that Christopher Palmiter gave the girl away for money.”
The report also revealed the contents of a recorded jail call involving Palmiter, his brother, and his sister-in-law. Palmiter mentioned that Diana had “a lot of cash with her,” and he claimed ignorance about its origin.
“In the recorded call, Palmiter said there is ‘financial stuff‘ coming up, and his brother tells him not to worry about the financial stuff,” Queen City News reported.
The police in Cornelius, North Carolina, have urged anyone with information about Madalina’s disappearance to contact the detectives at 704-892-7773.
