Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is currently in hospital after falling from a Washington D.C. Hotel.

USA TODAY was updated by David Popp, spokesperson.

“This evening, Leader McConnell tripped at a local hotel during a private dinner,” He said. “He has been admitted to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

McConnell (R-Ky.), was in Washington D.C. attending an event of the Senate Leadership Fund when the Waldorf Astoria hotel suffered a fall.

McConnell was the Senate’s longest-serving GOP leader. In 2019, McConnell had been admitted after he fell from his Kentucky residence in 2019, fractured his shoulder.

As the Senate narrowly divides, Democrats currently hold the majority with a 51-49 margin. Due to Senators John Fetterman, D-Pa. and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. being hospitalized, the margin was narrow.
